V twin diesel engines

Post by Dan J »

Had a quiet hour at work and stumbled upon this...

http://www.kipor.com/prouducts_detail3.asp?info_id=547

Which is clearly a double cylinder version of the this engine http://www.kipor.com/prouducts_detail3.asp?info_id=303

It's a bit smaller than the V twin version of the 186 (406cc) engine http://www.kipor.com/prouducts_detail3.asp?info_id=548 which has been put in a few bikes (including a Bullet, though it looked like it was too large for the frame). I wonder if this engine would be more suitable for an Enfield conversion?

After hearing Whisker's bike at the UK rally I'm addicted to the V twin noise!

If I were to get a v-twin again it would be one of these.

V twins are cool aren't they? I especially liked his little exhaust flappers!

Wow mate! that is a really nice and tight V-twin - cool 8)

Also looking at the cylinder arrangement, it doesn't seem to be offset meaning the conrods may share the same big end similar to the Harley engine.

Dan, I think it is far more likely it is a copy of the 2-cylinder Yanmar.

Hey Loco,
Since you like big heavy "V" engines, why not cut to the chase, pull out all the stops and go with a 6V-53 Detroit diesel? I think one of these in a stretched and widened Boss Hoss would be killer.... Whoever said bigger isn't better???? 8)

This is what I plan to use. Yanmar 2v78 from a John Deere F735 prototype. See me running it on Youtube right after I got it.

I just finished getting my 6/1 listeroid built up and running and am finishing my Cub Cadet repower using a 12hp Yanmar clone single cyl. Once the Cub is done I'll start on the bike.

What a disease this diesel engine gig! I hear there is no cure...

Haven't seen Wolfgang for a while ... but here is its "Yanfield":

http://classic.dieselkrad.info/dieselmo ... field.html

and he also appears in Billingshurst 2005:

http://www.dieselbike.net/BritishRally0 ... ally05.htm

AFAIK the first and only bike with an Yanmar 2V78 V2-Diesel. The engine runs very smooth and has much more motorcycle feeling than the single cylinders, in my opinion. Unfortunatly this engine is rare, very very rare! Don't know why.
