Post by regoch »

Hi !
I am Regoch rom Croatia ,riding bikes and work with mechanics for many years.
Now I drive 2 yamaha wild star 1600 , and kawasaki z 750 ltd , but found some nice pisc from Belgium with diesel powered bike , and immediately made decision to build bike like this , tools are not problem , I have lathe and miller and tube bender.
I want use opel kadet 1.6 ( have one in great condition ) or maybe golf diesel 1,6 or 1,9 . So what do you think ,which one is better?
PS sorry about my english

Hi Regoch :D welcome to the forum! Those engines maybe quite big but it all depends on what you want from your motorcycle? Do you want Economy? Torque? Wow factor?

All the best with your project and look forward to seeing the results of your labours :D

Some nice shots of Stephanes Dieselross MK II.

Yes! It is another bike. He builds two of this. Both using the 1.6 Diesel from a VW Golf II.

The best part is that the title says it is a 2010 GSX-R 750 :D

Also it weighs 427 kg...

Interesting! I simply assumed it was the same bike. Didn't know he'd built a second. Very nice machines.

Great to have you on board and you've come to the right place. If you need any inspiration for a VW 1.6 build, check out the links below. One of my favorites.

And here it is from an earlier time before the new "paint job" and updated forks.

This blog has tons of motorcycle images worth to watch.

You find the fresh images of the Dieselross here:

and here:

The images are taken at a classic motorcycle swap meet in belgium april 2011. You can see that Stephane changed some details of the bike. The exhaust is a bit different and he build a coupling for the trailer. It looks like he build it out of a pair of connecting rods. Great job!
