I changed my mind

Post by LocomotiveBreath »

Im not selling my bikes, i like them to, but I have a new Diesel project, I bought the Essex Tow truck.

The truck was built in Los Angeles in 1957, spent it's whole life up and down old route 66 from 10 miles west of Needles, CA to Ludlow, CA. It is a Lambert Tow truck, the only one left known to exist. Tow Times magazine plans to do a feature article in the near future. Plans are for 5.9 Cummins engine, possible 5-6 speed manual.

Essex Ca. Has the only water fountain for cars.

This is what Route 66 magazine or Pixar is selling off as the truck in question.

Does anyone have ideas how I can use my little truck to promote our diesel motorcycles?

I'm having so much fun,
Dave

Very cool, I just adore old trucks.

For the Cummins info, check out the TDR website. The Turbo Diesel Register is the spot for Cummins info.

Thanks, as for old trucks, I volunteer at the Heidrick Ag and the Hays truck museum here in Town. http://www.aghistory.org/

They have really rare and neat toys, this tractor has a friction style CVT transmission, I'll get a better picture of the drive, the engine slides back and forth either side for forward or reverse. See: http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2926537 ... 8672nXfNGG

Hi mate, that's one cool looking truck, to promote diesals, how about a utube clip of it being towed by the sidecar ? I should be winning the lotto tomorrow, so you can show me all the best places to go in death valley !

Things are on hold for the truck for now. I'm finding out how very rare this truck is. I'm doing research an I just received the Line Ticket (build sheet) for the truck.

I would like and looking for a 6bt, 94-98 12 valve w/p7100 injection pump. I really think a 4bt would be more practical.

As for the Cummins engines, the 6bt is a 5.9 liter 6 cylinder engine, the 4bt is a 3.9 liter 4 cylinder. The (B) designates the B series and the (T) designates a turbo.
