Sluggy's aging process - aka Triggers Broom

Post by Diesel Dave »

In the 5 years we have been together old Sluggy and me we have been through many so called 'consumables'.

Today one of the last remnants of his original parts finally gave up the struggle - the throttle cable snapped. We continued on bravely with the end of the cable clamped in the twistgrip and me pulling on the cable outer.

This leaves the following left of the original.

front wheel & brake
1 toolbox,
engine mountings
primary cases
the exhaust
keyswitch
fork lowers
clutch lever
brake pedal, rod & arm

For those unfamiliar with the legend of 'Triggers Broom', it comes form an old 'Only Fools and Horses' comedy in the UK.
Trigger is a street sweeper and is very proud of his broom, in fact it's the best broom he's ever had. It has had 5 new heads and 3 new handles but it's still the best broom he's ever had! :D :D :D

I think the Americans have a similar legend about grandfathers axe, 3 new heads and 2 new handles but it's still grandfathers axe.

Still we always manage to get home somehow, I'll pop into the local bicycle shop at lunchtime and grab a brake cable to modify - should be good for another 5 years.

Not bad going mate considering the Miles you have clocked up, at least it didn't break going to or from the HAMM rally :) or something similar.
