Yamaha Diesel

Post by Nibbler »

Got a tip on a Yanmar engine in a scrapyard.
When i found it it was´nt a Yanmar but a Yamaha diesel.
The engine has powered a generator called Yamaha EDA 4700T.
The engine is working and i can get it really cheap.
The engine is aircooled, quite tall, single cylinder and start is by hand.

There was no information written on the engine, and the internet came up with nothing.

Anybody recognize this description???

Power, displasement, rpm and so on would be of interest.

I believe Yanmar is owned by Yamha... or was was, orr something simular ties them together. So that makes it possible that engine is a Yanmar with a Yamaha tag.

This Yamaha engine is very different from the Yanmar L100.
No shaft, taller and thinner. More good looking actually.
Looks perfect for a shaftdriven bike like a Ural/ Dnepr/ BMW.

The very small amount of Google hits suggests it is 3.3-3.9 kW. So max 5hp and manufactured in 1987 according to one hit.
'92 Enfield + Hatz 1B40: street legal, weld up stainless exhaust, check engine rpm and change final drive sprocket.
