Hungarian Ural/Daihatsu

Post by pietenpol2002 »

This chap's build of a Yanmar/MZ was posted here before. But, now he's building a Daihatsu Ural. As with the MZ, the build is very well documented, albeit requiring an on-line translator. His consideration of a planetary gear for addressing the final drive ratio dilemma makes for interesting reading. That is, until he realizes he'd have more gears in reverse than going forward.

I also think I'll adopt his "spark-plug-free-zone" stamp found at the header of his blog.

Looks like our Hungarian friend has it on the road - with a few details to address yet.

Just an update to this old thread. Our Hungarian friend apparently got some great exposure for diesel bikes as a part of this television show while giving us a close up of the finished product. And a nicely finished product it is. Excellent detail to workmanship. To be commended. Too bad some of us don't speak Hungarian.

That's a hell of a bike. Blingy chopper but not too blingy nor too chopper. Not my cup of tea but that's irrelevant.
