I have wanted a diesel bike ever since seeing the military KLR's written up. They might one day sell those to the public, or the engines for them... I can keep dreaming can't I???
in the mean time I have a moto guzzi eldorado (v850) that needs a lot of love. the engine needs a good rebuild, i hope that is all. I haven't pulled it apart yet to see if the transmission is still good. I have been thinking about what I could do with that...any one know of a good engine that I might be able to put in there without cutting up the frame? transmission is the standard guzzi 5 speed from 1973.
thanks,
jon

Guzzi Motor
I'd love to see a conversion using the Punsun V2 motor tied to a Guzzi or BMW.
I'd bin all the fan shrouds as the motor would be facing the correct way and skim the fan blades off the flywheel.
It's a big motor though, and I suspect you would need some frame mods to get the motor in.
Just an idea though!

what to put in the motor guzzi?
How about a hatz single cylinder engine, from what I understand they are much cheaper than a chopper motor and you can get service anywhere in the world.
You could try a yanmar vertical shaft or a different type of chinese V-twin and mount it onto the motorguzzi's gearbox.
I dont know how you would go with the bellhousing and the gravity issue(with a vertical shaft engine), but a chinese V-twin has been mounted onto a harley gearbox (from what I understand nearly any motor could be mounted onto a harley gearbox).
