Just had an email from Alfons at Smitbros telling of an up and coming meeting which may interest some of us. Here are the details:
AutoMotorTreffen - Texel On May 15 we will organise a meet for motorcycle with a Car engine. We always have found this very interesting bikes. And this has brought some of the most exclusive and interesting motorcycles ever. as well as building quality, from the "RR" of motorcycling to "the worst motorcycle on the World" but also technically; 2 and 4- stroke, Rotary en Diesel engines; line, V and opposite configuration and 2 upto 10 cilinders. Also in Design from very amaturistic to very progressive, yes even futuristic.. In the end all these bikes are very rare with production figures from just a few to about 500. But there are also homebuild bikes wich are very intersting, it is amazing to see what some people can do with minimal tools and money.
Therefore we would like to invite all owners of such bikes to visit texel.

If you do decide to visit Texel, I can recommend a visit to "De Slufter", a Dutch National Park. Check out http://images.google.nl/images?hl=nl&so ... a=N&tab=wi for pictures and http://www.npduinenvantexel.nl/index.php?id=59 for a description in English.
Accomodation I can recommend: Hotel/Pension 't Anker: http://t-anker.texel.com/english/index.html (small hotel) and http://www.krim.nl/en/camping (pretty large campsite with clean showers and restrooms)
I've stayed at both. Speedlimit on the island is mostly 60 and 80 km/h, but some cars are in a hurry. Have yet to spot a speedcam though
