I too have new brake pistons & new wheels also + disc but I don't have the bike yet! The shop tell me it should be ready for the departure date.

It seems Newhaven ferry times have changed from 9am departure to 11.30am! This leaves no decent riding time come our arrival in France so we may leave Tuesday night, getting there at 4.30 am. Well, it will save a few quid on the ticket price.

The Thursday night Harwich to Hook of Holland contingent (Diesel Dave, Willy, me) are due to arrive Friday 7:45am in The Netherlands. Bert/Raphael - if you (or anyone else) are meeting with us I recall from my last trip that I was off the ferry ealier than this (around 7:15 say) so it would be good to know if you or anyone else is hoping to meet up at the ferry terminal. Otherwise we will see you at Hamm!

Safe riding everyone :D

Tickets booked now. Jeff & I will be on the 11.30pm boat from Newhaven Tuesday night & arriving very early in France.
Anyone is welcome to join us - we'll have a week in France after Hamm, making for the coast as the weather is supposed to be better there.
Safe trip everyone.

At the risk of muddying this thread, am I right in saying we don't need to wear Dayglo Hi Vis jackets thru France to Hamm? A quick yes or no shouldn't detract too much from the main topic I hope :-)
Ps. I do have a breathalyser!

Cheers Dan :-) I collected the Tiger today & I've been busy packing. Nice to have the brakes done and its a smoother ride with the new wheels.

Do you need one of those breathalyser things for Holland/Germany or is it just France?

I'll bring my dayglo anyway.

Actually you don't *need* for France, they will only enforce it from November 1st. For Holland cops bring their own, I don't know about Germany.

I got the breathalyser (2 in a pack) £5.95 in Halfords. We've split the pack between us.

No breathalyser needed in germany. And no dayglo as well.

I wish you a safe and dry journey.

You are welcome to visit me. go via aachen, bastogne, Verdun then follow the Loire valley to Samur ( where there is an excellent tank museum). I am about 40 miles from there due south. From my place is all good roads to the coast and all around Brittany clockwise so continue back to Dieppe.

Today is a rather cool 28C, but forecast to rise as the week progresses. Have started wearing woolly pullovers.

This August has been rather cool at around 33-45c. so I am building a greenhouse :)

Peaches, plums , figs season over Only grapes, pears and plums left

Stop rubbing it in Larry.......

Summer has been a bit of a non starter in the UK however, this week has been quite good.

Weather looks promising for this weekend, nice and sunny on Friday for the ride across the Netherlands, a bit cooler on Sat so you don't get sunstroke during the day then mega hot on Sunday so the tent can be packed away nice and dry.

So I've packed the summer sleeping bag (but included winter thermals).

We've made Mons by 12 noon after getting off the boat at 4am. Dark & foggy it was but we arrived with the only casualty Jeffs rear left indicator bulb which blew - parking light type.
Will punch onto Hamm tomorrow

The greenhouse has arrived from Belgium. About 6 x4m am half wondering if it would be worth trying to grow bananas? One of the major problems is it might just get too hot for vegetation to live in mid summer. This year we have had cases of fruit cooking on the trees outside. But my plan is to have things out of season maybe tomatoes for Xmas :) sweet potatoes are definitely on the agenda.
Here through the summer I tend to get up early but have to stop working around 10-30 as it is too hot. usually swim and doze by the pool until about 5 then can do stuff if in the shade.

Since 12 hours I have a new enddrive, after the major breakdown last year in december.
So I need to do some inspections, packing and cleanup and will hopefully be able to leave soon.

cu tomorrow,

I have returned already and it was a nice event as far as i could see in the few hours i had. :)

The trip home was uneventful did 270km with 16 liters of Diesel. That's not good i know. But i also did that 270km in 2 hours time. ;)

The (daytime) Hook of Holland to Harwich ferry is just pulling in to the UK. It's been a fantastic weekend - bikes and friends old and new plus beautiful weather. Hope everyone else has a trouble free journey home - I'll put up my pictures soon.

We rode from the rally site at 11am today having stayed Sunday night with Ola to fix his front brake.
Have been riding all day & just setup tents at a site in the hills overlooking Namur.
It'll be a while before I get the majority of my shots up. Great rally again this year & amazing weather :-)

WHAT AN AWESOME TIME! Thanks to everyone involved! Headed back to the States this week, need to finish the ST-90, clean the shop, strip and sell one of the GS-850's, then I'll have room for the K100 that will become my Diesel bike.
