I'm new to the forum. Decided a diesel bike might be a cool project and here I am. I work for Polaris and had thought about trying to scrounge up one of the Fuji motors from the several year old diesel sportsman atv.
It looks compact enough, has ectric start, and was designed to be mobile. I don't have any HP or torque specs at the moment but it was a decent sized single. I need to get some dimensions and start looking for a chassis. I have a CB360 donor? Anyone have any advice?
Polaris diesel for my project.

The CB also has "goofy" frame rails. One side in higher than the other. Woulod have to be all cut out and replaced. (I know. I just DID it) I had a cb lying around, and managed to get a title for it. After looking at it, and stripping it down, all I ended up using was the frame neck and front forks. There's a pic over in "Technical" of it (so far)

Irsh, I worked for Fuji when that diesel engine was in development. I think it's a decent platform but they waere plagued with issues when they came out, cooling and durability if I remember correctly.
Don't let that deter you though. If you find one, make sure you go through it and size the radiator larger than it was on the quad.
And take pics...............

Irsh,
I think you have to make sure the 455cc Fuji engine is an 01 or later (check that). The main bearings have been beefed up here because they failed. There is also an electronic sensor that works off the coil. It stops the engine if it starts backwards. Senses the reverse current.
I think if you strip off the gears and can fit a drive it would go well. I did have some video of one and it certainly had some grunt. If I can find the video (doubful due to hdd failure a while back) i'll post it.
If you do use this engine make notes about fitting the drive and all to share with us lot. This is, after all, an egine that can be used on different types of oil fuel due to pump being on the head

Stuart. M1030M1, Honda NC700S, Grom!, Toyota Corolla 1.4 Turbo Diesel. Favouring MPG over MPH.
Alot of replys, I wasn't sure how busy this forum was.
I'll look a bit closer at my frame, I thought the 350 lowers were the asymetric ones and the 360 were the same.
I had heard that I needed the later engine for best reliability. I can still get all of the parts for the 01 so that's what I'm looking for. I haven't had much luck finding a used unit, too bad poeple didn't want them this bad when we were building them.
