The problem is namely grease coming along the clutch push rod and dripping onto the kick start spring (when I took the main shaft cover off there was no grease in there) the advice Hitchcocks offered was to check that the oil throwers were fitted the correct way around.
My outer is fitted with the flat side facing the bearing and the machined indent facing out allowing the nut and lock washer to fit inside the indent is that correct? Not checked the inner yet but can I assume it fits the same way with the flat side in contact with the bearing? Not sealed bearings although another rider with the same problems has fitted sealed bearings but still has the same problem.
The only other thing I have done in the past is fit C/R gears and that was a while ago although the leak may have been there since then not sure. A couple of weeks ago I replaced the kickstart pawl and the gearbox grease was almost all gone.
I did try the outer thrower the other way around but that put the edge in contact with the ball bearings so I assume it is fitted ok.If enough space will try a small O ring on the push rod inside the main shaft bearing cover not sure what else to do.
The outer thrower spins on the main shaft before fitting the nut and lock washer and again I assume that is correct?
Anybody have any ideas what to do next please it's a bit of a concern not knowing if you are going to get home before the grease runs out and the gearbox locks up.

Is there a vent? If so is it clogged pressurizing the case and forcing out grease?
Is it grease or gear oil? Can you drill a hole in case and manually insert lube as fast as it escapes? (give it a squirt or drip every time you get off the bike?) Find the leak and redirect it at the chain as a fancy chain oiler. Now you no longer have a leak. You have a custom chain oiler.

Hrm, I don't have any parts needing replaced on this side of a 4-speeder gearbox to make it oiltight. Interested in the solution.
'92 Enfield + Hatz 1B40: street legal, weld up stainless exhaust, check engine rpm and change final drive sprocket.

Following on from my posting what I have done is this every journey I have removed the gearbox outer cover cleaned the grease/oil slurry out and topped the gearbox up with the same amount of grease and at last I have stopped the leak from the clutch pushrod but (always a but) the gear change is quite stiff until the box warms up but problem solved, well for now.
