Anone following this series at the moment? I got the box set of series one and enjoyed it. About time we saw some bikes back on TV. Interesting dynamic going on with the club politics, them not knowing whether to go legit or stay running guns

Re: Sons of Anarchy
I watched it last season. Interesting, lots of twists and turns in the plot. Didn't realize it was back on, I'll have to find an excuse for the wife to abandon the tele so I can watch it.
I just wish there was more ridin' going on in the show, but it is good. I rubbed elbows with a few "hardcore" 1%ers back in the day, this show, at least in my narrow perspective, ain't all that far-fetched!

Re: Sons of Anarchy
Yep, the second series is about to air Stateside. I'd like to see more riding in the show too. There was a chase scene midway through the series with the Myans following them which was pretty good

Re: Sons of Anarchy
He's the 1st series extracts from the book written and read by John Teller. Interesting reading complete with warnings for those looking to set up a back patch club.
Disclaimer: Just a reminder that not all the text that's seen here was actually spoken/performed in the show. Some was only visible and probably added to the book Jax held to make it appear a book. Obviously writers can't do a complete book beforehand!
I am indebted to Series writer and actor Kurt Sutter for reminding me of the above and saying that putting this part of the show up was ok. Cheers Kurt!
The Life and Death of SAM CRO
How the Sons of Anarchy Lost Their Way
By John Thomas Teller
For my son Thomas who is already at peace. And Jackson, may he never know this life of chaos.
Introduction
Sometimes things start with a good idea. You realize there is a need and you go come up with an answer to that need. Other times things just begin.
The Sons of Anarchy was name I came up with in the 8th grade for me and my best friends. We were going to change the world. What we really did was do the things that most kids do in a small town…
(text in this paragraph not spoken or completely visible on screen)
…raised a little hell, drank a few six packs and drove a few cars that didn’t belong to us. We loved cars and motorcycles…
…ourselves motorheads even though none of…
…I got my first bike when… Triumph that bu… day when…
Most of us were not violent by nature. We all had our problems with authority but none of us were sociopaths.
We came to realize that when you move your life off the grid, you gave up on the safety that society provides. On the fringe, blood and bullets are the rule of law and if you’re a man with convictions, violence is inevitable.
(This section seen and not performed)..…mess you up badly. The people that deal them are total pigs and should be regarded as such. When you’re buying from strangers you have a right to sample the merchandise free unless it’s coke. Check the weight of grams with a small pocket scale. Check the texture and checkout how well it has been cleared of seeds and twigs. Smoke a joint rolled from the stuff you get. Don’t accept the dealers sample that he pulled out of his pocket.
When you are buying a large…
First time I read Emma Goldman wasn’t in a book. I was sixteen and hiking near the Nevada border. Quote was painted on a wall in red. When I saw those words it was like someone ripped them from the inside of my head.
“Anarchism stands for liberation of the human mind from the dominion of religion, liberation of the human body from the dominion of property, liberation from the shackles and restraint of government. It stands for a social order based on the free grouping of individuals."
The concept was pure, simple, true. It inspired me, lit a rebellious fire. But ultimately I learned the lesson that Goldman, Prudon and others learned.
That true freedom requires sacrifice and pain. Most human beings only think they want freedom. In truth they yearn for the bondage of social order, rigid laws, materialism. The only freedom man really wants is to be comfortable.
The older I get the more I realize age doesn’t bring wisdom, it only brings weary. I’m not any smarter than I was thirty years ago; I just grew too tired to juggle the lies and hide the fears. Self awareness doesn’t reveal my indiscretions, exhaustion does.
Inside the club there had to be truth. Our word was our honour. But outside was all about deception. Lies were our defence, our default.
To survive you had to master the art of perjury. The lie and the truth had to feel the same. And once you learned that skill, nobody knows the truth, in or outside the club – especially you.
Einstein said that any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex and more violent. But it takes the touch of genius and lots of courage to move something in the opposite direction.
I’m realizing that my touch of genius and my courage are coming a little too late and I fear that for SAM CRO there may be no opposite direction.
I never made a conscious decision to have the club become one thing or another. It just happened before my eyes. Each savage event was a catalyst for the next and by the time violence reached epic proportions I couldn’t see it. Blood was every colour.
The following note attached to the 2nd copy handed to Jax by Piney.
To my oldest, dearest and wisest friend. What we started you and I was a good thing, for a good reason. What we’ve become is a different thing for reasons I no longer understand. I feel angry winds at my back and I’m not sure how much time I have left in this club I love so much. This book is for all the things we wanted and for all the things we still can be.
I love you brother.
J.T.
Series 2 Episode 5:
"I realised that in my downward spiral of helplessness I was actually falling into the huge hole created by my absense of basic human graces. The most obvious was forgiveness.
If I was wronged by anyone, in or out of the club, I had to be compensated - money or blood. There was no turning the other cheek. Relationships became a ledger of profit and loss. You have no friends, no loved ones, just pluses and minuses. You are absolutely alone."
Episode 10: Page 449.
"I found myself lost in my own club. I trusted few, feared most. Nomad offered escape and exile. I didn't know whether leaving would cure or kill this thing I'd created. I didn't know if it were an act of strength or cowardice, I didn't know. So I stayed. I stayed because in the end the only way I could hold this up was to suffer under the weight."
