Hi everyone. Been reading for a while, and hopefully now I'll be able to bring something to the table. Although, I'm afraid my contribution will be purely academic until I can get my hands on some cash.
Thanks for having me

Hey Lars, welcome to the forum. Yeah many people find starting a project financially challenging, but have to say it's worth it when something you have designed and built is brought into life and your riding it around.
Save those pennies and plan carefully, you'll have something that will be a discussion piece.

lacking cash is the PERFECT opportunity to start designing your build. so when you find bits you need little by little, you're not throwing cash away hoping its the right thing (like i do at times).

That's good to hear, thanks.
Unfortunately, being in my situation, I'm prone to come up with some rather outlandish ideas and feel like sharing them. Ideas like hooking up 2 CVTs in series or using stirling engines to capitalize on heat differences.
So, if one or two people don't mind some impractical dialog I thrive on that.

Lars, I've magnets stuck around my fuel pipe (to better the burn) and a http://www.broquet.co.uk/ in my tank.
If having outlandish idea's is your thing you are in good company

Welcome Lars
Welcome to the world of dieselbiking Lars.
You don't need a heap of cash to enjoy this type of activity as anyone who has seen my bike will testify
For a first build I'd say keep it simple and beware of transmission losses, CVT's are as effecient as a gearbox despite the friction drive but tandem them together and you could be loosing 30% of your power. Enfield 4 speeders are particulary ineffecient in the lower gears - even worse when still filled with the factory grease rather than gear oil.
Outlandish ideas are good though and with circa 1200 deg F available from the exhaust gasses at full power there might be scope for adding a heat pump element.
So welcome to the forum.
Dave

and pietenpol suggested mounts made of ash wood! which i'll be working on this coming week. so i'm not seeing the ideas as outlandish, just new and innovative. fresh perspectives IMHO. and depending on where you are and what you're wanting, my shop has all manner of bits around, including several donor bikes available. portland, oregon, USA.
