influencing CVT ratios

Post by alexanderfoti »

Having a chat with Tim, I stumbled across a thesis on measuring CVT efficiency. In this document, he outlines a mechanism to influence the CVT ratio by applying pressure to the moving sheave of the secondary pulley. Like this:

Seems quite interesting. I played about with actuating the secondary pulley by hand with a stick of metal and a rubber skateboard wheel bolted to the end, but it took some considerable force to influence the ratio.

Thoughts on this?

I've been thinking about using a skateboard wheel to force the primary c.v.t. to neutral when idling on the Track. Allowing for much heavier weights.

This is very interesting!
