I stumble by here from time to time, though I have not been diesel-biking since last summer when a sudden rear puncture nearly saw the end of me. My bike is fixable, but I have not worked up the enthusiasm just yet. Meanwhile I have been doing a bit of museum volunteering, at a place just south of Stockport called the Anson Engine Museum. There are a lot of engines; quite a lot of early diesels, including some of the very first made in the UK. Here's a 'first run' video of a big Mirrlees single. Museum opening times are on our (soon to be updated) website - not open very often on a weekend, but worthwhile when it is. On an average Friday we might run 5-10 engines. On a big weekend open day, we might run 20-30, and also 5 or 6 steam engines.

Re: Anson Engine Museum
Thanks for sharing, Mark We were looking to find a similar museum on our Euro tour this year but timings meant it never quite happened.
