Identify Real Yanmar L100?

Post by bigpaws »

I'm not sure whether my "Yanmar" engine is real or fake (Changfa). The fuel injection pump didn't work when I got the engine, and the replacement genuine Yanmar part has a brass fitting where the old pump used plastic.

The engine number on the case starts with a "C", and I can't seem to locate any stickers or other identifying marks to determine if it's a real Yanmar.

How much would a decent running Yanmar cost? (L100 10HP)

How about a Changfa? (I think it'd be a 186 engine).

Track this one for a few days on ebay and you'll have an answer to your question regarding the cost of a true Yanmar. You should note that though it's listed as being 10 hp, it is in fact a EPA tier II compliant L100V model engine. As such it is actually 435 cc instead of the older 406 cc. And yet Yanmar Japan rates it at 9.3 max hp at 3600 rpm. Here in the states it seems to be rated at 9 hp max. Reportedly doesn't smoke as much as the 406 cc model. And quietier. Oddly, this one is listed as having a 3/4" crank.
