SOLD 2002 KLR 650 Diesel For Sale
I have a 2002 KLR 650 that has been converted to diesel. Sparky's design!!
It runs great at around 120-150 mpg.
I have it currently running on biodiesel from my BioPro 190, extremely clean fuel.
Search youtube for videos of Diesel KLR 650.
I just don't have the room anymore and would like it to go to a motorcycle person that would enjoy.
I don't have a license and only used it to work cows on the ranch. Sparky took it on trips into Colorado for the mileage estiamtes.
For my purposes it is on the same tank of fuel for the year. I will drain and the fuel filter has just been replaced to be safe.
Price is $3,000 obo (only serious offers, this thing is ready to hit the road) nothing much to do but wash the dust off!!!
Also has extra parts.
Detailed specs coming soon.

This bike might be GREAT for trail riding. Just came back from a Trip to ride with Unimog Friends at Windrock Camp/Coal Creek OHV in TN (near Knoxville) and looking at all the ATV's and bikes out there..... it seemed like it would fit well. Wish I had the $$$$ would be fun to have such a trail bike being that I now live near area's w/trail areas near by.

Re: 2002 KLR 650 Diesel For Sale
There is a thread here and video on the bike. Search "KLR"
At last check the bike would only do about 45mph. It is being worked on by "Curtis in TX" to bring it's standard little higher. According to Curtis it looks promising. Know the first person on the list with money in hand ready to purchase based on results Curtis gets. Message Guy (TX-Ranger) to add yourself to the list too so if others back out your name will move up.

Did you get it sorted in the end? What was the solution?

Re: SOLD 2002 KLR 650 Diesel For Sale
I have been tweaking the Diesel KLR and have it running fairly well. It now can cruise at 55 mph, but I think it's got more in it.
I think I can get another solid 10 mph out of it.
I remade the exhaust to a proper tmandrel bent ubular exhaust and rerouted the intake to the stock KLR air box.
Made a proper remote lever for the de compression lever on top of the engine, which makes starting a lot easier.
Turn on key, pull docompression lever and hit starter. Putt, putt, putt it goes.
Reworked the fuel throttle and shut off lever and it now idles like a purring kitten. It will turn 4300 rpm on the stand now.
(Don't worry, I know it won't live long at that RPM)
Shut down is a no brainer now. EASY!
(when I got it, it wouldn't stay running or idle.)
And a few other odds and ends improvements to the fitment for me.
Left to do:
Fix the flat on the rear tire, and clean the contacts on the starter solenoid.
Needs a new headlight bulb and a bath.
I'm going to tinker with the timing, injector and gearing to seee if I can get it up to a consistant 65 mph with the CV.
Oh, and BTY, I'm the one who bought it.
Worked on it so much I fell in love with it and had to have it!
Signed, sealed and delivered as of this morning
So , for now, it stays in Texas and on this board!!!!
Now I need to do some research about the Enfield transmissions.
Not real crazy about the performance of the CV.
And, I like to row my own.
I honestly think this thing has the ability to run 70 mph all day long if it has a real gearbox in it.
The best part is I've gotten to be good friends with both TXRanger and Sparky because of this bike, so it's a big trifecta win for me.
That is all!

What pictures do you want to see?Kristof wrote:Pictures?
The ones of what the bike looked like when I bought it, or the ones showing the improvements I've made to it.
Let me know and I'll post some up later this afternoon.
It still looks the same on the outside, mostly!
But I made a new header for it and moved the air filter to the stock KLR air box.
I'm about to leave on it to go into town to visit the Grandkids in Fort Worth.
