but how do I calculate my engine rpm?
Anything I can find shows automatic calculators that only provide speed calculations.
I am about to install my new tach and I need to calibrate it
It may sound odd

Use a fluorescent lamp and a white piece of white tape or felttip on your flywheel
3000 rpm is 50 Hz.
As soon as your engine reaches 3000 rpm , the mark on the flywheel stops moving
