Half and Opposed-Piston Opposed-Cylinder Engines

Post by zarquon »

Can't find the link or an image, but I'm sure I've seen it several year ago. Somebody had the idea to cut a car engine in two parts. Take the good ol 1600cc VW diesel engine and use only two cylinders. Shazam - We have a 800cc twin.
Crazy idea? Nobady has done this before? Not really - here are two Ford Model T engines that have been cut in a half decades ago and they are still running.

Youtube has more hours of video online than you could watch in your life. And there are always new gems to discover.

The Idda of the opposed piston engine is not new. On your nice little island you had trucks and trains powered by this kind of engines. But they almost disappeared. Some companies tried to bring them back to life for years. Looks like this one has some kind of success.

Haha 11 hacksaw blades  Wonder if it would still work on modern engines, I guess the layout is a bit more complicated?
