Vids starting bike in the snow + hand cranking a AA1 Petter.

Post by Mouse »

This is how the bike was at just below freezing. I later found out that one of the brushes inthe starter was sticking causing it to loose power and draw more current.

Falling snow and about -5 Deg C and the starter has been taken apart and the brush freed up so has more power. I'm still not happy so it will be converted to take a modern car starter some time in the spring when I get the chance to.

This is the AA1 Petter I was given yesterday. For FREE!!! sadly only 3hp so no bike project on its way with this one. I decided to start it to see if it was a runner before stashing it in the shed and fantasising about what I'll do with it come spring time.

this is my first post in quite a while :D

your bike doesnt seem to hard to start in the cold weather.... :)

as for the AA1. firstly, it looks like in the video, you have your hand wrapped around the starting handle.
please dont to that....you could lose your thumb if the engine kicks back.

and it probably would be easier if it was bolted down :p

I enjoyed the bike video's though :)
