Enfield Robin D-R400D – Diesel Motorcycle by Ernie Dorsett

If you have some knowledge of the development of diesel motorcycle conversions in UK over the past 20 years you will be aware of the Enfield Robin D-R400D Diesel Motorcycle. This machine (being a conversion of the Royal Enfield 350cc with a Fuji Robin diesel engine), - designed and originally built by the late Ernie Dorsett was produced in quantity (with the Robin DY 40/41 engine) by R-B Developments Ltd between 1993 and 1996.

We acquired the design, all the Tooling/Jigs/Templates/Prototypes/Master Samples for the bike (and the complete set of components and spares stock) in 2003. As Classic Motorcycles Ltd, we built the bike again (with the Robin DY42 engine) between 2006 and 2007.

The project has since become dormant, but we still have
(i) all of the Tooling/Jigs/Templates/Prototypes/Master Samples
(ii) numerous complete sets of components (excluding the Robin diesel engine) to build the bike (enough for at least 6 machines – but many more of some components)
(iii) huge inventory of miscellaneous Enfield spares and parts relevant to the conversion (includes a gearbox, wheels, mudguards and seats etc etc).
(iv) full set of supplier and production budget files (from 1993 to 2007).

There has been lots of press publicity and publications about the Dorsett Enfield Robin conversion over the years. Of these, we have the following available that you can get from us on request.

Only snag in the UK is that there are not many of these engines around and they are no longer in production.
I still haven't managed to find a starter motor for mine
