Re: Kubota / Enfield ? Will it fit ?

Thanks Ron, how big are those pulleys ? 5" forward and 8'' aft ? If you use belts with a central cord you can back tension them without breaking them, the largest radius you can fit though.

Re: Kubota / Enfield ? Will it fit ?

The belt drive would be a good idea, there isn't a lot of power to transmit so a tooth belt should work well.

Kubota / Enfield ? Will it fit ?

I've found a donor bike, an old Enfield 500 , pre '1975 so old enough to be allowed to do mods to it by our local rego boys here in Oz . I've looked at the Chinese engines but they are just too noisy for me to live with so I've narrowed it down to a water cooled twin, that should be heaps quieter ! ...

Re: Punsun Dnepr build with questions

Sno Bro, have you calculated your road speed at 3000 rpm? A great looking build mate ! :D Hi Sibbo. Yes I have. Assuming a 215cm length of the rear wheel, my very fast 4th gear (1:1) and standard rear drive (8:37) will make 3000rpm 83kmh 3600rpm 100kmh If they start to seem too slow I can easily up...

Re: Kubota Z482, BMW R series conversion.

Hi Mouse , I have access to an old R65 ... but the ratios are wrong for a diesel with a top rpm of 3600. Just for your interest these are the speeds on a stock R65 should you be offered one. This is a '79 R65 with a 31/9 stock final drive. It's not going to work as it stands but maybe with an R80 fi...

A couple of excellent links especially the UK one as I can't read German .The Brit version looks as if it has very good performance too.If the Sinopower version is the same size as the Ruggerini it looks quite possible.

I can't find much online but it does look wide , maybe 600mm .It may be too wide to fit an Enfield frame .

I suggest extreme care when using 'White Spirits' also called 'Stoddard Solvent' It has been responsible for many deaths, when it was used as a common dry cleaning spotting solvent in the USA. Not used here any longer because of that. It took years for them to figure out what was causing all the cl...

Ouch ! That sounds just as bad as methanol fumes and I know they are extremely toxic .A remote air supply while using methanol and sodium hydroxide is the go.

st it would clear the tank. Any comments/suggestions? I cranked the engine with the starter just to see what happens, didn't want to start it without the mufflers, but I probably eventually will. The 1950s Dreamliner was fitted to a 13 hp 350 cc Enfield. It gave another 10mph top speed and 25% better fuel consumption .

6'5" is going to give you a very big frontal area ! That is in the calculator too.

It is nearly impossible to buy a decent aero fairing .Almost everything on the market is either not very effective from a drag perspective or just designed to look good for boy racers.

Re: Is 12amps output sufficient ?

Just an aside. When looking at the link for that engine it references ball bearings on both ends of the crank. When did that change occur or is it unique to theirs. Suppliers of new cranks for that engine here in the state only offer them with ball bearings on the PTO end. Yep , that appears to be ...
