Hi Peter Kim from Denmark here. (Friend of Allan Korup) Ive heard about your troubles with the TC. It Seem to me that the chain wheel is placed on the wrong side of your (dont know What to Call it, the thing Holding the converter together) backplate. The sprocket should be on the right side of the b...

Re: Regulator controls for small diesels
I still dont get the second spring.
I've just replaced the max fuel with a 8mm bolt.
Can you explain the physics of the 4 times 3 different spring settings on the rack?
Regards Kim

Re: Fabricating kick or rope start for 3cyl D722 etc with CVT
The idea is that you use the original recoil part (recoil on drawing), and by using the pulley system shown (moving the kickstarter according to arrow), is able to pull the string thats connected to the kickstarter in one end and running over the pulleys, resulting in 24" of pull at approx. 1/3...

kickstarter.JPG wonder who gets first. I myself am driving an old MZ Yanmar L100 Comet build. Really enjoy it. however at times it would be nice to have the kickstarter option espessially after i got a bad back last year. here is what i think could be a solution. I've measured my own pulling length...

Re: CVT trouble - back wheel locks up
The reason for that comet model to use ASYMETRICAL belts is that it'll make it possible to have both the stationary driven and the driving sheaves fixed parts at the same side, ie for a more compact construction. You can't have that with a solution based on a symmetrical belt. I do agree this CVT is...

Do you happen to run out of juice often ?It's just a cheap plastic fuel filter, the bicycle valve on top is epoxied in place so I can bleed air out of the line.

For a while i ran my MZ Ynamar wihout the max set screw (i lost it) and i'd spend lots of thought while driving about not to overfueling. So a while back i replaced it with a "dumb screw" It works like a charm, just give it some throttle and away you go, no worries about cokeing the rings ...

A cheap and easy solution can be seen on Youtube, search MZ Yanmar ITs my bike, i've been using it for more than a year now, and its absolutely reliable. Its a MZ TS250 Frame, (no downtubes) Engine hung in rubber mountings, ie. not many wibes. I 'd build it for about 1000 quid (10.000dKr.) Also spar...

the engine is a (much) used yanmar l100ae, 8-9 bhp with disrupted govenor plunger spring and a comet 40 with very week springs in the drive(engagement rpm) shorter belt (engagement point(gearing)) and a 7,5" driven with slightly softened springtenion (upshifting carcteristic)

Re: how long do your belts last? help please
I've chosen to use a slightly short belt on my yanmar - comet 40 powered bike, just because i like it to use the whole exchange range. ie. i've driven it with a belt length one number smaller than they say i should. as long as the belt does'nt fit snug, at idle. This means that at take off my drivin...

Re: CVT - TAV2 replacement.
hi ill deem it unsuited, partly coz it's made for 3-8bhp engines, partly that its engaging speed is way too high, you should aim at 900-1100 rpm engagement speed. its cheap though Have a try with comet magnum 44 or comet 40 they are better suited, allthough they allso have a rather high engagement. ...

How do the Diesel technician measure the injectiontiming ?????
Someone ought to know. and it would be lovely to ensure correct timing, as a reference for trial and error experiments

Re: flywheel key broke
Since the engine timing is done by the camshaft, there is no real reason for having a keyway to hold the flywheel, the flywheel should be tightned enough to stay put, with or without the flywheel key. This also means that the mounting surfaces has to be absolute clean from dirt, ironfilings, oil, de...

Re: Punsun crank failure theory
most likely the bearing in the PTO side is a bronze bearing as on the L100 type engines. -they have the ball bearing in the flywheel side.
Even though the V twin is an other engine, its derived from the L100 type engine, just beefed up with an other crankcasecasting and an extra cylinder and so on.

I used one of these when I took the bike to Barcelona from the UK. It was still immensely painful. The trade off is no idle. half a year ago, my MZ- Yanmar (l100) developed a sporadic problem, starting, normally it would start , but sometimes it wouldnt, if i fave it a faint squirt of eather, it started and ran well. I decided to opt for a new pump, and havent had any issues since, as well as its now possible to run a rat...
