Re: enfield 13hp diesel
Henry's a good guy so you don't have to worry about help should you need it.
My 418cc has done over 10k with no internal troubles. I have had multiple fuel pump failures and the flywheel key snapped off. I also replaced the injector as they are crap by default.

Re: fuel pump does work, engine not
I'm an expert now on L100 pumps and injectors. Wish I wasn't though! The easiest way to know if it's your fuel pump is whether you have any smoke coming out the exhaust. If not then it's buggered. Even a dying injector will put some fuel into the cylinder. I am in discussion with Henry Price as to w...

Re: flywheel key broke
Don't worry it did it on mine too. I posted a thread last year about it.
Reason - the chinese are spot welding the key onto the shaft. Guaranteed failure.
Easy fix, simply groove a proper key yourself then stick a wedge of metal in it of appropriate size.

Re: Diesel Enfield for Sale
Did not reach the reserve of 2k, if anyone offers this they can have it. I will break it if not as it's worth more in parts. Bike standards me 4k and half my life in the garage.

White smoke is air in the system, are your rubber pipes compressed at the end with connectors?

186FA / 418cc Yanmar Clone Injectors - Cheap!!
I've 9 remaining injectors for the 418cc Yanmar 'clone' engines. These do not fit the 406cc L100. If unsure, it's the one on the right: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/228/injector4.jpg/ These injectors are new, tested and have an excellent spray. The one supplied by the factory was 'shot' in m...

Re: Broken down in Italy (L100)
I dumped all the fuel and replaced, it's the fuel pump again and I've one being couriered from the UK so should be on my way shortly. I am running a normal micron then very fine diesel filter but it's not enough. It does look like diesel can dissolve sand and knack the pump. Lesson here is, make sur...

Re: Broken down in Italy (L100)
From the diagram I'm trying to work out what part of the pump is blocked / broken but it's not obvious. I'm running a big diesel filter (the proper one for the Enfield Indian Diesel) so nothing should have got through. Injector is fine, my original injector had a worn nozzle most likely unrelated.

Re: L100 Engine Failure (fuel related)
I had started another thread but I've now eliminated bad fuel and can confirm the fuel pump, number five, is knackered. I'm running the proper diesel filter, a big mother, but some sh*t has still got through. What I can say is that the pump progressively gets worse until it fails. In order to have t...

Broken down in Italy (L100)
Bike ran out of fuel (reserve is clogged). I then refilled, bled the air and tried to start but I am having fuel issues. The injector and pump are pretty much brand new and I've tested the injector out the cylinder. Compression is good. I have some smoke coming out of the exhaust but not much. Could...

Re: L100 Engine Failure (fuel related)
Thought so. If I've got this right ... less shims = advanced timing = more power = more knock noise? If so then that's the way I've got to go. Engine came with 0.5 & 0.1mm shims. I took the 0.1mm off and top speed went from 50 to 54mph. I've now took the 0.5mm of (so 0.4mm reduction) and hoping ...

Re: L100 Engine Failure (fuel related)
Engine is running well but seems to have lack of 'get up and go', I'm carrying out further testing this morning. Instead its silky smooth compared to before and hovers around the idle much better. I wonder if the fuel timing shims have to be reset with a new fuel pump? Either way I reckon my origina...

In addition, no fuel coming out the injector return line indicating that once installed the additional 20:1 compression is overcoming the fuel pump. This is happening with new and old and I presume (not knowing otherwise) that my old injector managed to kill both. Perhaps the pressure was building t...

Re: L100 Engine Failure (fuel related)
I have just swapped the injector and the spray pattern is much better ... but engine still doesn't start and has no smoke either. Thus it looks like the new fuel pump has failed after a very brief stint. Engine ran badly for less than an hour last week before going into its current state. I get pres...

Re: HELP! 13HP transmission
It would be interesting to hear if you can run one of these without long term failure. The extra 2.5hp would be most welcome (I run the 10.3hp 418cc). Hitchcock's do a cush clutch which would reduce the snap load on the shaft, it's not outrageously expensive. Running any of these engines long term a...

L100 - pump & injector questions
This Thursday I'm meant to be setting off on a three week trip around Europe and for over two weeks my bike has sat in the garage. I've fitted a new pump and now have 10 injectors coming, however knowledge on how things work could also help get the bike on its way. So, two weeks ago she died with po...

Re: L100N Injector Supplier?
Well yeah but it served the purpose - to tell me my injector is shot. Tried and tried to find a supplier in the UK with a 186FA injector. Only only had '1' in stock and he wanted a lot more than the L100 injector because as he put it, he rarely sells them. I've bought 10 from Alibaba.com and will fl...

Re: L100N Injector Supplier?
Lurking in the depths I found this thread:
https://www.dieselbikeforum.com/view ... =31&t=1587
And a seller on alibaba confirmed its a 186FA not the 186F meaning I have a 418cc engine not 406cc as per on the box.

Re: L100 Engine Failure (fuel related)
Fuel is coming out the injector but I do not believe the fuel spray is 'misty' enough. I took the injector to a specialist (Bosche) and he said the spray is shot. He took a shim out (reduced the pressure), ultrasonic cleaned it and said it was a bit better but still very poor. I then bought a new pu...

This is the same injector. It's a great video and confirms that mine is knackered, I don't get a mist like this.

Also makes me think it's not an L100N injector but that the Chinese clones can use another type altogether.

I'm not 100% sure its just the nozzle. I'll go for that option if I can find anyone doing just the nozzle.
Here's a picture of my injector.
