Re: Article on Diesel usage
It's nothing compared to the failures of marine engines caused by the Californian unilateral legislation to ban Heavy Fuel Oil vessels from their terrritorial waters unless they are running on low-Sulphur fuel, for which the engines and injection systems were not designed. There will be an ecologica...

Re: Styling Diesel bikes
If styling is the objective, just go straight to Burt Rutan. If he's designing space planes and because he doesn't have a previous track record in motorcycle design, he's the man. He creates fashions not follows them. After all this is the man who built a plane with one wing longer than the other, a...

Re: OCC Diesel Chopper
I think we forget it's a TV show about making bikes , not a company that makes bikes - which is something OCC ran out of steam on some time before Jnr and Snr split. Also they make show bikes, not practical bikes which kind of puts them at odds with the diesel ethic. Televisually, the bike-build is ...

Re: Testing injector w/o injector tester
Viewing the spray pattern is simply not a tenable way of testing the injector. For a start the injector needs to be under back pressure load typical of cylinder head pressures or else the spray pattern is not representative. I could go on, (and on... ) but I won't. I s'pose if what you want t...

Re: Hello, again from The New Forest
Hey snave Welcome to the forum - Yeah have to agree on the last part, I'd love a diesel dirtbike that can do 1000 K's on a tank, not really for cost efficiency, more the need to have something with good range, modern enduro bikes have 6 - 8 liter tanks which is absolutely hopeless here where I live...

Re: Testing injector w/o injector tester
take it from me that testing injectors is not a Mk1 eyeball job, and amputation is a very real possibility. Modern Common Rail injectors typically run at the 1,800 bar level or above - or 2,800 psi if you prefer. A steel cuttter will work at 50,000 psi - and a bike tyre is of course about 32-42 psi ...

Re: OCC Diesel Chopper
Forward-facing exhaust designed to throw exhaust in the riders face? Nice. Nothing like a practical design to forward the diesel revolution, comrades. Conceptually, OCC has become a little formulaic, much like their TV show. Practically? I don't think they got there yet and while the exposure...

Hello, again from The New Forest
Hi, and Hi again for those who know me from my work at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, where I was responsible for the first major show expose of the exponents of the diesel bike at the sadly defunct `Motorcycle World` show. ( I say `sadly`, but it only lasted one piss-poor effort after Frank L...
