Re: Running an Yanmar L100 engine on SVO.

I don't have any experience of a two tank system and all I know of them is what I've read. Personally I would rather just run diesel than bother with a two tank system. It sounds like too much of a faf to me. Hence my experiments with heating the oil. I think the electrical solution is neater, provi...

Re: Yanmar L100 project bike for sale.

Thanks.

I'm gutted it has to go, but such is life.
It's still availible if anyone wants it.
I'm open to offers and I can take it up to Silverstone if that would be more convenient for anyone.

Yanmar L100 project bike for sale.

Hi Guys. Sadly I have my diesel project for sale. I'm moving soon and unfortunately it can't come with me. I have pretty much everything needed to build the bike, except for whatever might need to be fabricated. Engine: Yanmar L100. This is a real Yanmar, not a copy. It was fully serviced before I b...

Running an Yanmar L100 engine on SVO.

Hi Guys. First off, please note that I'm not making any claims, nor am I claiming that this was particularly scientific or thorough and it definitely didn't study any long term effects on the engine. It's just a very rough write up on my experiments with running a Yanmar L100 on vegetable oil. One o...

Re: Gearbox suggestions needed, please.

Thanks Guys. Yes, I was planning on running a toothed belt. Thanks for the link Phil, I'll send them an email, but as I'm a on super tight budget, I suspect it'll be too expensive for me. The belt driven clutch solution does look like just the thing though. I thought of running an o-ring chain at fi...

Re: Gearbox suggestions needed, please.

Aahh! Thanks Phil. Now I understand how it all fits together! I saw the clutch lever thingy on the gearbox and thought the clutch was in the gearbox! That potentially presents a new problem for me. Do these clutches need to be run wet? I was going to investigate making the primary drive belt driven,...

Re: Gearbox suggestions needed, please.

Thanks Phil. Bother, I thought/hoped pre-unit gearboxes had built in clutches! I went around a bike jumble a few months ago just to have a looksee at what's around, and could have sworn I saw a gearbox with built in clutch. Stupidly I didn't ask the seller any questions! Do you know of any pre-unit ...

Thanks Stuart.

Hi Phil, yes, that's me. Do you have a MT350 or MT500?
Which BMW are you using?

Gearbox suggestions needed, please.

Hi Guys. As I've posted in the Introductions section, I've got a Yanmar L100 and a Suzuki VL125 Intruder and I intend sticking the one into the other. And no intruder jokes please! :) Some advice on a gearbox would be very welcome. I'm looking for a pre-unit gearbox, ideally with a kick start...

Hello from Surrey

Hi Guys. My name's Neil and I live on the Surrey-Berkshire border. I can't remember exactly how I got this whole diesel bike idea into my head, but it happened about a year or so ago. And then about 4 months ago I accidentally became the proud owner of a second hand Yanmar L100. After a lot umm-ing ...
