might be an idea to add here that anyone serious about using one of these motors to make sure the output shaft rotation is correct, you dont want 4 reverse and 1 forward gears.

maybe you are all right, the shift linkage does suggest front wheel drive, but the box has a distinct rear wheel drive image and looks a bit like a type 9, and i would not have thought this was a cvt, theres no evidence of the usual large pulley wheels. the engine is wildy similar to the moto guzzi....

the aixam uses a kubota twin z600 series, and is a good motor, the box however is a constantly variable doodah and is prone to explode i believe. would make a good donor for a bike, there are breakers that do reliants that also have aixam's, if your lucky you might get the sports version which is me...
