Re: CVT??

Just make a cardboard mock-up of your scooter's innards and put it around your L48. I'm skeptical.

I saw one in Hamm on an old Vespa-like model. The engine when where your legs were supposed to go. Didn't seem comfortable.

I can personally recommend you order one from Nanko, it works amazing on my Hatz.

You dont need a sensor, use the alternator frequency instead
A simple frequency to voltage converter connected to a analogue or digital display
Thanks, great suggestion. I will see if there is something off the shelf.

What are you hoping to get it for? Because I think that is a pretty important question I would guestimate it goes for several thousand euro.

Actually I think the build is excellent except for that ugly piece of metal in those beautiful aluminium rims.

Very keen to see how the drive train part will work out.

Re: wasted horsepower

I think driving something off the crank defeats the purpose. The real goal is getting rid of losses that may impact the performance of the larger single cylinder engines in such a away that you can drive them along a road at more than terrifying (read: low) speeds. I can't comment sensibly on whatev...

I could do a few testruns with and without the shroud but a 12v fan to cool the head might be nice. And a GPS based measuring device.

I don't know much in detail about diesel engines, but I'm pretty sure modern CDI injectors spread the volume of fuel over multiple discrete injection moments for the work stroke.

Very nice. I thought they were more expensive before. What I can't figure out is why they only offer these on ebay and not the watercooled twin :(

Maybe Rafael can hound them.

edit: apparently they did offer it at one time -- http://r.ebay.com/p61HWs

Interesting writeup. In that case people selling 1B40 generators rated at 6500W continuous must be frauds. Or based on assessment of the empirical data this theoretical model is incomplete. I guess someone with a 1B40 genset needs to pitch in.

Welp. No brake cleaner was necessary, it squirts right out really. Unfortunately it is in a piece of Hatz hose and not in a piece of hose I put it. It has an annoying little clamp at the bottom, so I can't replace it atm. I do have some ABA clamps, but they are twice as high (see one in the pic for ...

Very pleasant past months. Attended the Dutch Enfield rally, roughly 2.5l/100km after turning up the fuel pump screw for bigger top end which now seems to be 80-90kmph and 75 under more unforgiving circumstances. Just stopped at a traffic light close to home and noticed my left foot was slipping off...

I assume that gearbox will work like a reasonably modern 4 speeder. Of which I have a PDF somewhere... how it works. See, that is the real problem, which cogs are connected in what way in what gear. Except for fourth, where main, and lay are connected by two cogs in 1:1 ratio. This one: http://d.yim...

Re: enfield clutch

Most Enfield gearbox problems are in fact clutch problems. In my opinion there is hardly enough swing to properly release the clutch, unless you pull it all the way. I replaced the Minda lever by a Guzzi lever, but I'm told you can also do some filing of an Indian lever to remedy the problem. Furthe...
